The Moon is represented as Diana with her crescent and bow. She is seated on her cart carried by stags and brings the night to the earth. She is surrounded by her companion. They are different groups of nymphs representing the woods, the country, the waters, the sources, etc.

This tapestry is a fragment from the upper part of a much larger tapestry part of a serie on the Seven planets. None of which is known nowadays. Some details shows that the cartoon was given by a French artist, although the tapestry was woven in the Netherlands.
